More Than Just Innovation: CyberEthics Lab. at Rome Future Week 2026

A ― A

On 25 September, CyberEthics Lab. and the degree programme in Law, Technological Innovation and Sustainability (DITeS) at the University of Rome Tor Vergata will host a workshop on AI, data and emerging social and legal responsibilities.

What changes in our lives when connected environments, platforms and services collect and interpret ever more data? What responsibilities come with these technological capabilities?

“More Than Just Innovation” will explore these questions from legal, psychological, sociological and ethical perspectives. The workshop will take place on Friday 25 September 2026 at 3:00 pm at the Department of Law of the University of Rome Tor Vergata, as part of Rome Future Week.

The talks will address issues that affect everyday life and social relationships: social media dependence and platform responsibility, personal data protection, opposition to digital infrastructure, and privacy in connected environments. A shared question runs through the programme: what does it take for innovation to be sustainable for people and society?

The workshop will be introduced by Emanuela Calore. Speakers include Maria Rosaria Nappa, Benedetta Sirgiovanni and Carla Solinas from the University of Rome Tor Vergata, alongside Lucas Pereira Carwile and Carmela Occhipinti from CyberEthics Lab. Emanuela Tangari will moderate the discussion.

Following the talks, an interactive workshop will invite participants to discuss a practical case, share questions, risks and opportunities, and develop a collective scenario around the ethical, social and legal challenges of innovation.
