Helena is a Brazilian-qualified lawyer with a background in digital law, encompassing data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, cybercrime, digital services, and artificial intelligence. She holds a Law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (PUC-SP), where she developed her thesis on “E-commerce: Liability of Service Providers in Digital Piracy,” and an LL.M. in Law and Technology from Tilburg University in the Netherlands, where she defended her thesis on “Human Oversight and Human Intervention in AI-enabled Neurotechnology for Healthcare.” She is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), accredited by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).Before entering the European legal landscape, Helena worked as a litigation lawyer in Brazil, handling matters related to cybersecurity incidents, civil law, digital law, corporate fraud, liability, e-commerce, intellectual property disputes, privacy, and data protection at a top-tier technology law firm. Her career began in the judicial public sector, where she supported judges and gained hands-on experience in judicial proceedings and legal administration. She later transitioned into the private sector, working in the litigation department of a law firm focused on financial services.She is currently focused on the intersection of law, technology, innovation, and ethics.
